Why this course? Your teacher.
With over 20 years of experience as a Level 4 Pilates instructor working closely alongside Jamie Archer, Registered Osteopath at Alma Osteopathic Practice, I bring a uniquely informed approach to movement and recovery.
I trained as a primary school teacher and taught for over 10 years. During this time I worked with children who had a delay in their physical development, which impacted on their academic abilities in the classroom, practical skills such as getting dressed and self esteem.Â
The gap I saw in children's movement capabilites was growing and I took on the role of Physical Education Consultant for the local education authority, delivering Physical Literacy training to teachers, developing resources and continued my research to support children with Developmental Co-ordaintion Disorder (DCD).Â
The movement programmes I developed were very much founded on the principles of Pilates, focusing on core stabiltiy as a prequisite to all other movement.Â
I've since used my knowledge of movement and Pilates to work with many of Jamie's patients with great success. Between us, we have helped them to get moving again, work again and enjoy life again.Â
Pilates and Osteopathy compliment each other and together are a powerful tool to help people move more efficiently and effectively again, so that they can do all the things they love doing.Â
